Reiki is a very natural, gentle and relaxing form of treatment for pets and equines, since within the animal kingdom, they live and work with energy all the time.  Animals do not need a formal introduction on meeting us,  it is all an energy interaction. They read our energy instantly and generally will have us summed up almost immediately.  

Treatments with Reiki energy reduces stress within an animal’s body, thereby inducing a state of relaxation. This has a positive effect on the immune system  and can aid recovery from illness or injury.  Reiki energy can also be wonderful for assisting animals who are suffering stress, depression or other emotional issues, since Reiki both relaxes and balances energies within the body.  

As natural and gentle form of treatment, Reiki is safe to be used in conjunction with conventional veterinary treatments.

WHAT HAPPENS  DURING A TREATMENT

Your Reiki practitioner will request that you seek veterinary permission for them to attend and provide treatment.  This is since Reiki is not a substitute for the veterinary treatment and care for your equine or pet.

Animal Reiki treatments will tend to take place where they will feel most comfortable, which is usually their home or stable.  If an animal is more relaxed they are more likely to enjoy Reiki energy for longer. 

On attending, your Reiki practitioner will take a brief medical history from you regarding your pet or equine and this will include details of any current health concerns. It should be born in mind that Reiki practitioners are not veterinarians, so they cannot diagnose any medical condition.  Diagnosis  can only be carried out by a trained vet.

Animal Reiki treatments can be approached in a number of different ways.   The practitioner does not need to place their hands on the animal to provide an effective Reiki treatment, so your Reiki practitioner will discuss with you, your  equine or pet’s routine and temperament in order to identify the most suitable method of treatment.   

HOW DO ANIMALS REACT TO REIKI

Reiki energy is gentle to receive and produces a feeling of total wellbeing.  Animals will instinctively draw the Reiki energy that they wish or need and will tend to become very relaxed during a treatment, some even falling asleep during or shortly after a treatment.   

Reiki treatments provides animals with an opportunity to totally relax and rebalance physically, mentally and emotionally, in a safe and caring environment.  

The effects of Reiki are cumulative, so it is generally advisable for your equine or pet to have a course of treatments.   It is  entirely up to you how many treatments you would like your equine or pet  to receive and your Reiki practitioner will be happy to assist in advising you.
